10 Biggest WWE Rematches That Never Happened

6. Triple H Vs. CM Punk – Night Of Champions 2011

Why There Was No Rematch: Triple H was a part time wrestler and both men were faces at the time of the match, there was no reason to do it again.
Triple H beat CM Punk in the main event of the September 2011 Night of Champions PPV. Both guys were babyfaces with Triple H in a part timers role while Punk was the most popular guy in the company.
The decision to have Triple H win the match is something that confused a lot of fans then and still does today. He didn’t win clean because there was all kinds of interference from R-Truth, The Miz, John Laurinaitis and Kevin Nash, who dropped Punk with a Jackknife Powerbomb right before Hunter hit a Pedigree to win.

Why would Hunter beat him? It didn’t make sense. If Hunter was going to turn heel after the match then the win would have been fine since he could have put Punk over in a rematch, but he stayed face in the storyline because of the WrestleMania 28 match with Undertaker that was about them having one final match as faces.
Punk never got his win back against Hunter because this was the last match they ever had and Nash wasn’t medically cleared, so it made Punk look like a loser because he couldn’t get revenge on Nash either.
They were originally scheduled to have a match at WrestleMania 30, but apparently Punk was so upset about things that he quit the day after the 2014 Royal Rumble. If Punk ever goes back to WWE, the first match he should have is against Triple H.
