The wrestlers that are the most successful usually make it to the top because they make incredible sacrifices along the way. Natalya is no different. In 2005, about five years after she started wrestling, she was sent to Japan by Tokyo Joe. He was a world renowned trainer for New Japan Pro Wrestling and he suggested that she stay over there for a while to train with the Japanese girls to learn their style.
How many current divas in WWE have experience not just wrestling in Japan, but dedicating their life to their craft by living there? Only Natalya. That’s how you know she’s a special talent. It’s not like it’s easy to just move to a country where you don’t know the language or have a tough time adjusting, but she did it and she made it work.
When you watch Natalya wrestling in a WWE ring a lot of times she has to tone it down. Most of WWE’s girls don’t have a lot of experience, so she can’t bust out moves she learned in Japan. While she does have a physical style in the sense that she can throw German Suplexes and stiff clotheslines, she really doesn’t wrestle a Japanese style. That experience in Japan taught her a lot, though. It shows in her work.
