4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night’s WWE Raw (Oct 27)

2. John Cena vs. The World

It must be tough being a 15-time world champion. You’re constantly the underdog, having to fight from underneath against numerous obstacles and tremendous odds, yet you somehow manage to come out on top nearly every time. After earning his number one contender’s status, John Cena is once again poised to fight for that elusive 16th reign. But first, he has to contend with yet another obstacle.
See, despite several attempts to recruit the overgrown Boy Scout, the Authority remains convinced they can turn him to their side. When that predictably fails, they declare that they will make his life miserable. And how will the Authority do that? By making him field a team to fight their team in a Survivor Series elimination match, of course.
In all honesty, this has the potential to be a really good match if the right participants are recruited. But it’s just another Cena versus authority figure storyline that just always seems to fall flat. Cena gets held down for a week or two, rises above oppression and triumphs at the next PPV.
Worse though, this means that there likely will be no Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, which means the earliest the WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be defended is TLC. However, it’s more likely that we won’t see the Beast until January’s Royal Rumble, which would be a four-month gap between title defenses. Explain again how the 30-day rule doesn’t apply, or how no one seems to care that the title-holder is AWOL?
