10 Most Unexpectedly Great WWE Matches-9

9. The Rock Vs Triple H (Iron Man Match – Judgement Day 2000)

By 2000, pro wrestling fans had seen their fair share of lengthy matches. While the WWF had only seen one Iron Man Match (outside of house shows), the NWA and WCW had put on some long matches involving the likes of Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, and Sting. What the wrestling world had not seen was an Iron Man Match involving two people the size of The Rock and Triple H, who were both billed as being over 270 pounds at the time.
Fans wondered just how those two would be able to wrestle for that long without wearing themselves out and making the match unwatchable. They had never wrestled against each other in a match that went over 30 minutes before Judgement Day. As a matter of fact, neither of them had ever competed in a singles match that went over 30 minutes, no matter who their opponent was.
Not only did their match turn out to be pretty good, but they did it without really changing their style at all. They wrestled a “WWF Style” main event, and they did it for 60 minutes. The crowd remained invested the entire time, which says everything about how well those two can captivate audiences, even at that relatively early stage of their careers. The Undertaker making his return to the company, debuting his “American Badass” gimmick, only added to the atmosphere of the match, but by his return, Rock and Trips had already put on an excellent piece of work for an hour. Nothing could take that away from them.
