10 Most Important WWE Moments Of 2014 - 1

2B. CM Punk’s Podcast Interview

Yes, this is the same story as the last entry, but because this was such an important continuation, it deserves it’s own spot. Merely mentioning it in a sentence or two to close out the previous entry would not suffice here.
By now, it seems like every wrestling fan alive has heard Colt Cabana’s Art Of Wrestling podcast, featuring his best friend, CM Punk. It has been listened to over and over again, and discussed even more. As is the case with anything, there are two sides to a story, but my goodness, Punk’s side was eye-opening and painted a very ugly picture about WWE, from their management to their Wellness Policy to their doctors to different people on the roster.
Everything Punk said set the internet on fire. Fans were outraged at the way he was treated. Being fired on his wedding day? Having ideas or rewards that were meant for him, only to be given to people like Brock Lesnar and Triple H without notice? Having to wrestle with what could have been a deadly and infectious staph infection, while the company tells him that it’s something else and nothing to worry about? Basically lying to the public about how stringent their drug policy is? At face value, it made the company look like a terribly evil place to work.
There’s always the other group of fans, though. The ones that listened to the podcast and immediately thought Punk was full of s**t with a lot of the things he was talking about. They felt he was bitter, and that he was out to ruin the company’s credibility as a result. There were smart fans who were able to piece his timeline together and see that not everything matched up, meaning that, at the very least, he was bending truths here and there. It was an ugly situation for everyone involved, and it’s something we’ll probably never know the absolute truth about.
