5 Reasons CM Punk Is Now WWE’s Biggest Competitor - 4

4. He’s Multi Skilled

For a long time now, Vince McMahon has cringed at the notion that his company is one with a primary concentration on professional wrestling. The word ‘wrestling’ itself seems to have been pushed further and further in the background over the years in favour of the all-encompassing ‘entertainment’ that McMahon and co. so often claim to be in the business of. And, in all honestly, the WWE does offer much more than pure wrestling. From movies to reality TV shows to a slew of video games and web applications, the WWE seems to be very serious about their mandate of ‘putting smiles on people’s faces’ in any way they can.
Time and time again, Punk has demonstrated that he is just as multifaceted as WWE’s entertainment churning machine. He is a wrestler first and foremost, sure, but he has made it abundantly clear that he has many more interest, passions and skills. And when he makes those claims, it somehow sounds more legitimate than the slew of wrestlers who have come before him claiming to want to ‘make it in Hollywood.’
He’s far from stupid and has demonstrated that he is extremely well spoke and articulate, which already makes him a prime candidate for any number of ‘talking head’ spots on a variety of TV show, whether they are tied to sports or not.
He is a hot commodity in the realm of geek-culture, where he has cemented his reputation by making highly-touted convention appearances and even doing some writing for Marvel Comics, which is as hot a company as could be right now.
In his podcasts with Cabana, Punk mentions that he wanted to explore many of these opportunities while in the WWE, which would have only given more exposure to the company, but was supposedly held back time and time again. Now a free agent, Punk will presumably get up to lot of different things, simply because he can.
