Roman Reigns started on WWE’s main roster at Survivor Series 2012. The first singles match he lost by pinfall or submission happened this past Monday on Raw when he lost to Big Show in about four minutes. It happened because Seth Rollins interfered with a briefcase attack.
It’s one of those things that sounds unbelievable, but if you look up
the stats you can see it’s true. That doesn’t count house shows or tag matches. It’s specifically for singles matches.
In tag matches he’s been pinned plenty of times. One of the more famous pinfall losses was the outstanding six man tag at Elimination Chamber 2014 when Bray Wyatt got the win in a match that many people thought was the match of the year.
It can be said that wins and losses don’t matter because in the end they really don’t, but what this stat tells us is that WWE has really gone out of their way to protect this guy.
The running joke has been about always making Roman Reigns “look strong.” The reality is it’s not a joke. It has been a long term plan by WWE’s creative team for over two years since he became a regular on the main roster.
