8. WWE Is Trying To Get Owen Hart’s Name Back Into The Mix

It was announced online last week that WWE is planning on doing a DVD/documentary feature about the late, great Owen Hart. It would be the first time WWE does something like that about him since he passed away in 1999. They had done features about the Hart Family and mentioned him, but not something specifically about Owen.

When the news came out, fans were excited especially because it appeared his widow Martha Hart supported the project. A day later, Martha issued a statement saying that she was vehemently against it and did not support it at all. She said that she wished for WWE to honor Owen’s legacy by letting him rest in peace.

Apparently the DVD/documentary is still going on as planned although there has not been an official statement by WWE on the matter. They usually don’t say anything about planned DVD projects anyway.

What will be interesting is if WWE pushes the DVD on television. They haven’t mentioned Owen Hart’s name much at all in the last 16 years and there are probably some young fans watching who have no idea who he is.

A Hall of Fame induction next year has an outside chance of happening too although with Martha strongly against WWE using his name for anything it may not happen.
