4 Ups And Downs From Last Night’s WWE Smackdown (Jan 15)
1. The Repetitiveness Of Tag Match Main Event After Earlier Confrontation
A new Smackdown should have invigorated the creative team. They should have went into the show thinking that they should come up with a different way to set up the matches on the show. Instead, it was the same old thing.
There was a promo to open the show with Daniel Bryan talking about his return. That was fine. Then The Authority came out to watch the Bryan match with Kane, so that led to the aforementioned DQ finish.
Following that match, Bryan walked up the ramp while The Authority looked like they were going to attack. Instead, he was joined by Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns on the stage.
When Triple H saw the three faces together, he put them in a match against three Authority members: Seth Rollins, Kane and Big Show. We’re sure that Teddy Long was proud of that playa.
What was the main event going to be before that happened? That’s the problem with WWE booking. They don’t set up realistic scenarios to set up match. It’s too routine. Nobody is shocked by anything they see anymore because all of it follows the same formula.
