10 Biggest WWE Rematches That Never Happened
7. Hulk Hogan Vs. Shawn Michaels – SummerSlam 2005
Why There Was No Rematch: Hogan didn’t want to put over Michaels.
The Hogan/Michaels feud in the summer of 2005 was built up so well. It was a dream match that ended up happening after Michaels turned on the Hulkster when they were tagging together. Michaels was incredible in building up to the match by coming off as a jerk, which was rare for him in those days because he was usually a face in WWE after his 2002 return. The idea was that Michaels wanted to see if he could beat the legendary Hulkster.
When it came time for their SummerSlam match, Hogan won clean while Michaels put on a show by doing a lot of ridiculous, over the top selling that made a mockery of the match. By the time it was over and Hogan won clean, most people were laughing about it because of the way Michaels sold for him.
The reason Michaels did that was because there was a plan to do another match for Michaels to go over, but Hogan killed the idea. There apparently was a money issue or simply because Hogan didn’t want to put him over. It wouldn’t be the first time refused to do something like that.
Both guys seem to be okay about it ten years later, but Michaels was definitely furious with Hogan’s refusal to put him over like it was supposed to be.
