10 Biggest WWE Rematches That Never Happened

1. The Rock Vs. Brock Lesnar – SummerSlam 2002

Why There Was No Rematch: The Rock’s movie career started to take off, so he wasn’t a full timer anymore while Lesnar’s first run ended in early 2004.
It was very smart for WWE to use The Rock to put over Lesnar at SummerSlam 2002. Rock only had the WWE Title for a month prior to it and they knew he was gone after the match, but with no Steve Austin around, there was no question that Rock was the right guy to make Lesnar a bigger star.
That crowd in New York cheered for Lesnar in a big way as he became the youngest WWE Champion ever at the time. The reaction led to Lesnar becoming a face a few months later. They actually had a match prior to this, but it was a triple threat with Triple H, so this was their first and only singles match.
Since that time, both guys went on to bigger things. They were both part of big matches at WrestleMania 19 in 2003 and then they didn’t appear on the same WrestleMania card until ten years later at WrestleMania 29. Ever since The Rock came back to WWE in 2011 and Lesnar returned in 2012, there have been all kinds of rumours that the match would happen.

A Rock/Lesnar match is a no brainer since Rock is arguably the biggest movie star alive while Lesnar has proven to be a huge box office draw especially after his successful career in UFC. It’s actually a surprise that it hasn’t happened yet.
For now, it’s the biggest rematch that has yet to take place in WWE history.
