10 Wrestlers Who Retired Too Young-4
4. Nigel McGuinness
When Daniel Bryan (you know, the guy who wrestled twice at Wrestlemania 30 against Triple H and then again winning the title in the main event, that guy) signed with WWE in 2009 it was at the same time as Nigel McGuinness. The two were considered equal in terms of talent, both wrestling for Ring Of Honor at the time, but McGuinness was the one who was really going to make it. Little Bryan could wrestle, but McGuinness had the look too. The had the body of a WWE Superstar. Unfortunately, he was struggling with injuries at the time and WWE didn’t follow through with the signing.
McGuinness, now retired, is currently the on-screen authority figure back at Ring Of Honor. He has said his injuries are behind him, but sees no need to return to wrestling unless it’s something he’s never done before. Well, he’s never done WWE before.
A healthy Nigel McGuinness would have a great chance at becoming a top WWE Superstar, in the same mould as Bryan, Cesaro or Seth Rollins. Even if he was hired just to fill the card in NXT, that would still be a treat. McGuinness vs Sami Zayn, Kenta, or Kevin Steen is something that we would definitely like to see more of. You know what? Even wrestling again in Ring Of Honor would be great. Here’s the point: Nigel McGuinness should wrestle again because he’s brilliant.
