12 Things You Didn’t Know About WWE Champion Brock Lesnar

5. He Sued The WWE

After failing to realise his football dream in the summer of 2004, Lesnar realised he had to get back to work. Wrestling was the natural option but he didn’t want to go back to WWE’s travel schedule and the WWE weren’t willing to give him a reduced-appearance contract.
Lesnar signed a six year no-compete clause to get released from his WWE contract, meaning he could not perform for any other wrestling or MMA groups before June 2010. Lesnar decided to challenge this in court and sued the WWE.
The Lesnar/WWE saga dragged on as Lesnar competed for New Japan and intermittently had contract talks with WWE. These talks inevitably broke down and the two went back to court.
The case was thrown out in June 2006 and the two parties reached an out-of-court settlement.
