Pro wrestling was the second career choice of Roman Reigns. His first passion was pro football, where he proved to be quite the athlete. It definitely gave him the career prerequisites for a life in the role of a WWE superstar.
Under his real name, Joe Anoa’i, he made a reputation for himself as the captain of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team. He went undrafted in the 2007 NFL season draft, and was later picked up by the Minnesota Vikings. After being released by the Vikings, he was picked up by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He then joined the CFL in 2008, plying his trade for the Edmonton Eskimos. He played five games, starting three, but was let go a season later.
In July 2010, the WWE came calling.
