6. Michael Cole – Journalist

Michael Cole, pictured here with a Canadian Lynx, was an accomplished journalist before getting his gig with WWE. In fact, he had quite the serious journalism career building up, which almost makes you wonder why he took the gig with WWE. Ultimately, that decision proved a good one, as he has now been a Vince McMahon guy for close to twenty years.

In his previous life, he won the prestigious Robert Costas Scholarship at Syracuse University’s Newhouse school of public communications. He went on to work all over the globe for local radio and CBS television, covering events like the Bosnian civil war and US presidential campaigns. He did of course go by his real name in this period – Sean Coulthard.

He won various journalism awards, including the National Headliner Award for coverage of poverty in Houston… and then he gambled it all to take an opportunity with WWE.
