10 Most Controversial Randy Orton WWE Backstage Stories
9. Incidents With Fans
In 2014, being a professional wrestler means that wherever you go all around the world, you’re going to be recognised by fans and often asked for pictures and autographs. While many wrestlers are happy to take these opportunities, sometimes they need a break from the constant public haranguing.
In 2007, Orton was nearly arrested after an incident in New Orleans involving a fan and his camera. Shaun Poff, a friend of the fan in question, posted online his account of what happened.
“As [the wrestlers] were going up my friend asked Randy Orton if he could have a quick picture. Orton said, “everyone wants a quick picture.” Then Orton took the camera upstairs with him and proceeded to throw it off, down to the bar. Luckily enough some other guy caught it and gave it back to my friend. Low and behold he realizes his sim card is gone from his camera.”
The incident escalated when the police were called, and the fan said all he wanted was his sim card back. Orton settled accounts by giving the fan $100 to cover the cost, which he autographed and signed “To Dips**t”. It’s not the first, nor last time Orton has got into it with fans, as he’s often got into heated arguments with people at shows including threatening one fan at a show in 2012.
