Whether they wanted to or not, in having Paige defeat AJ they have positioned her as the top female star in the company. In doing it the way they did, they now have the opportunity to book a prolonged feud between the two that can carry Paige forward into the summer.

Now, when it comes to any scripted drama- and I’m speaking from experience here- the most crucial aspect to the success of promoting a new character is a hook. Something empathetic for the audience to latch onto whilst we build up who this person is.
