3. Divas Gone Mild

Can someone please explain what’s going on with AJ Lee, Paige and Alicia Fox? This has to be in the running for worst feud of the year, or at least the longest, most nonsensical feud of 2014. AJ and Paige have been feuding on and off since the day after WrestleMania, and they’ve traded the Divas Championship four times in six months. And fans still have little to no idea what is really going on. Part of the problem is that Divas rarely get mic time (unless you’re a Bella), so it’s difficult to advance angles outside of Total Divas. The announcers also don’t help provide context during matches, so fans are left with a jumbled mess.

Here’s what we do know: the three women all act “crazy” in and out of the ring, and there appears to be some weird PG lesbian storyline, with AJ and Paige’s “friendship” devolving into a rivalry where Paige seemed to be trying to gain AJ’s affection. Now Paige is on commentary talking about how Alicia’s eyes are “smoldering.”

The worst part is that when AJ came back this summer, some fans felt that this meant that the Divas division would take off because both she and Paige have shown they can deliver in the ring. Two of the more accomplished women wrestlers fighting over the title could harken back to the glory days of a decade ago with Lita and Trish.
