When AJ Lee was first WWE Divas Champion, it was rare to see her without the ominous presence of Tamina Snuka. They ran roughshod over the Divas division in a Shawn Michaels/Diesel fashion, but unlike that pair, AJ/Tamina never really got the satisfying pay-off it deserved.

When Paige debuted and captured the Divas Championship from AJ, it was to give AJ the summer off to get married and spend time with her new husband. Tamina filled in for a bit, taking on Paige at Extreme Rules this year, but then unfortunately she injured her knee not long after and has been recovering ever since.

Tamina never got the chance to payoff that bodyguard storyline with AJ, by turning on her and challenging for the title. With her being out of action for a while, her returning to challenge her former best friend would be the best way for WWE to bring Tamina back, and find the connection with the fans she’s been missing since she debuted.
