4. Trish Stratus Using Wood To Taunt Bubba Ray Dudley

In the build up to WWE’s Backlash 2000 event, Trish Stratus used her seductive ways to taunt Bubba Ray Dudley. Her team of Test & Albert were set to take on the Dudley Boys in a tag match and Bubba had a desire to put Trish through a table. Of course, like the smart woman she was, she used that to her advantage on the April 24, 2000 edition of Raw. The segments were titled “Table Tips” with Stratus talking about various forms of tables while she was dressed in lingerie. In the first one, she talked about how there are all kinds of tables in different shapes and sizes. All that mattered was that they stayed hard. She wasn’t really talking about tables of course. In the second segment, she talked about the look and feel of the table. The last line of dialogue in that part was: “The more you rub it, the better the wood starts to look.” Once again she wasn’t really talking about tables. The third vignette showed Stratus talking about the center leg being important. She said they came in different shapes and sizes. She added that the center leg was so important because without it…you can’t keep it up. That was the third time when she was talking about something other than the tables. For the fourth and final skit, she was laying on a table. She ended it by saying there would be a table set for two at Backlash. Later on Raw, when Bubba was in a match, Stratus was on a table and she taunted Bubba in person. It did a great job of setting up the match although it was done in a way that pushed the sexual traits of Stratus instead of the actual match. Was it visually appealing? Absolutely. It was also a storyline that utilized Trish’s sex appeal to push an angle in a very direct way.
