2. CM Punk Finally Headlines WrestleMania

This is where everyone groans about CM Punk being mentioned yet again on a list, but let’s face facts here:
  • WWE is short on main event talent who could headline a WrestleMania.
  • CM Punk is a main event talent who is capable of headlining a WrestleMania.
  • Punk has stated numerous times that he has always wanted to headline a WrestleMania.
  • Vince McMahon will not let a grudge or dispute ruin the biggest show of the year.
  • McMahon has brought back wrestlers he doesn’t personally care for before.
  • There already is a built-in storyline for a Lesnar-Punk title match.
Simply put, if WWE got to the Royal Rumble and Roman Reigns was still on the shelf, Mr. McMahon could decide to throw some serious cash at Punk to get him back into the fold. Maybe he’d even toss in some WWE ice cream bars. Bringing Punk back would get the entire wrestling world talking and tuning in. By the time the Rumble rolls around, it will have been a year since Punk last appeared in a WWE ring. Combine that with the fact that there always are surprise entrants into the Rumble and you’ve got a great mark-out moment if “Cult of Personality” hit.
Beyond that, the storyline between Punk and Lesnar is an easy one to book. Lesnar toppled Punk at SummerSlam 2013 as part of Paul Heyman seeking vengeance on the Straight Edge Superstar. What better way for Punk to extract revenge than to challenge Heyman’s client for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania?
Again, this carries the caveat that Punk doesn’t work for WWE, but desperate times could call for desperate measures…
