Following his annihilation of Spanky the week prior, Brock Lesnar was still hell-bent on reeking havoc. Three days before he was set to do battle with Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam, Lesnar was given another warm-up match by his ally Mr. McMahon. His opponent on this night? Zach Gowen. The first one-legged professional wrestler, Gowen made headlines that year when he landed a contract with WWE and achieved success. He may not have won any gold during his time in WWE, but he held pinfall victories over the likes of Matt Hardy and Big Show and was involved in a handful of top-tier storylines on SmackDown.

His string of good luck came to an abrupt end on this night when he was forced to face off against Lesnar. Being the sick and twisted human being that he is, Lesnar held nothing back and had no mercy on the handicapped Superstar. He mocked making peace with Gowen’s mother at ringside, but was instead blindsided by Gowen with a crossbody. However, that was the only offense Gowen managed to get over Lesnar before being brutalized for the next several minutes. Similar to the week before, Lesnar had no intention of winning the match, so he got himself disqualified by smashing Gowen over the head with a steel chair.

Lesnar wasn’t done there. With a sadistic smirk on his face, The Next Big Thing delivered an F-5 to Gowen into the ring post, breaking his leg (in storyline). That paled in comparison to what he did to him the next week when he shoved the courageous competitor down a flight of stairs. Gowen was taken off TV for a month after that incident and was gone from WWE shortly thereafter. But hey, he still beat Brock Lesnar.
